Normally I would apologize for not posting in a few weeks.

But today I won't.

You know why?              Because I only have 3 questions.

Is it really too much to ask for someone to pause for 20 seconds and think of and post a question.

2012!

Happy new year everyone. The world is now gonna end this year!!!! 2012 is the apocalypse! Sorry about that...

Anyways, now that it's a new year it's time for new years resolutions that we know aren't gonna stick... :) Some of mine (related to the blog) are as follows:
A) Not to lie on my blog ( by this I mean saying something like "...and look forward to my post on alligators coming out this Tuesday..." and then post about crocodiles on Wednesday.)
 B) The write another amazing animals post. And randomness chronicles :P
C) Post a photo of my current snowman and future snowmen
D0 Post more often  (I know what you're thinking- "yeah right, like she hasn't said that a million times already..." Well you know what I say "Shut up! I'm a person and I try, alright?")
E) stop talking to myself in text...

Not sure if I'll be able to keep any of these so wish me luck :)

Albert: my bffl!

This is Albert. He's my pet rock and one of my BFFLs. I got him at antelope island which is on The Great Salt Lake (in salt lake city) when I was on vacation this summer. He seems to get along pretty well with all my gnomes and stuffies. And he's huggable!!!!! :)

Amazing Animals

This will be my new semi-regular segment on my blog. It's called 'Amazing Animals'. Each time I'll post the name of an awesome animal and gives some facts and a picture.


This time my animal is the pygmy hippo. Here are some Q&A about them. I got them of the internet FYI.

1. Are pygmy hippos friendly?

Although pygmy hippopotamuses look relatively small and docile, they can be extremely aggressive when it comes to protecting their home or enclosure. They are not thought to be social animals. However, our animals are familiar with their daily Zoo routine and do recognize their keepers as food providers.

2. Could they hurt you?

Yes. They have large, sharp, tusk-like canine teeth that are used for protection and defense.

3. Why do they open their mouths?

That is usually a threat display. By opening their jaws and exhibiting their canines, the hippopotamuses hope to intimidate possible enemies. Also, our animals have been conditioned to open their mouth so keepers can inspect their teeth. Keepers give them treats to reinforce this behavior.

4. What is the white oil on the pygmy hippo's body?

Pygmy hippopotamuses produce this oil naturally. It protects their skin against water loss. 

5. How closely related are pygmy and Nile hippos?

Pygmy and Nile hippopotamuses are both members of the same family of mammals Hippopotamidae. At first glance they may look and act very much alike; but they are, in fact, two very distinct species with different lifestyles and physical adaptations.
